She's a big pup. Bigger than expected!
When Marcus' dream of getting a dog finally comes true, he didn't expect so much trouble. Phooey Kerflooey, the new puppy, is eighteen pounds heavier than anticipated, fancier than grandma's china, and scared of everything.
I had the honor of illustrating the cover characters for "Phooey Kerflooey" by Kristen Joy Wilks. The cover art captures the whimsical and chaotic spirit of the story, featuring Marcus, his brother Conner, their neighbor Nia, and their quirky puppy, Phooey Kerflooey. The design aims to draw readers into the fun and adventurous world of the book right from the first glance.

Beyond the book illustrations, I worked closely with the author to create her Instagram brand. Kristen, who resides in the Pacific Northwest and has a deep love for the outdoors, wanted her Instagram presence to reflect this passion. She requested a color palette and graphics featuring Phooey Kerflooey that would embody natural colors and a sunny, playful vibe. The resulting design perfectly captures the essence of her personality and the charming spirit of the book.

To further engage young readers and fans of the book, I created a series of illustrations that could be used as coloring pages. These illustrations are inspired by scenes and characters from "Phooey Kerflooey" and provide a fun, interactive way for children to connect with the story.
